Leah, my editor, has sent over copy for the CUCKOO hardback cover.  This is swiftly followed in the post by the typeset proofs. I suddenly don’t feel able to read them – it all seems so final. So I put them on the desk behind me in my studio and carry on with the first draft of novel#2, which suddenly seems so easy by comparison. But I know I will have to get on with the typeset proofs soon, because I have promised to turn them round in two weeks.
