Under the Kosh

It’s all gone quiet again round here. Reason being  I am working my ever-increasing-in-size-because-sitting-on-it-all-day butt off trying to get my second novel into a state where I feel I can let others look at it. I’m rewriting at around 5000 words a day, and very little else is being done, except necessary trips to the gym to offset hours of sitting on a chair…and to the kitchen to stock up on hot cross buns.

I just got back from York Festival of Writing, which was like a shot of adrenaline. In the Agents and Publishers talk, Carole Blake from Blake Friedmann said that she was trying to negotiate book every 18 months deals for authors rather than the usual 1/year contracts, because so much was required of authors in the way of self-promotion.

So I just want to apologise for my interweb silence. It’s not because I don’t feel guilty about it. It’s just I have that scary second novel to finish. Soooo nearly there….

  1. I can understand then need for the 18 month contract rather than 12 with all the time blogging and twitter etc takes up. Good luck with the second novel. I shall be buying the first one very soon and can’t wait to read it.

It was ace to meet you in York.
